Fusion Flow-Learn Belly Dance

Bridget Salas

I invite you to explore this beautiful flowing movement style where Middle Eastern bellydance vocabulary mingles with exquisite nuances of Indian dance. This is a modern fusion dance form born from age old traditional dances of the Middle East and India. As our global cultures meet and evolve they become a living entity, through the merging of these movements we aim to uplift and inspire creating and experience of grace that transcends borders. The workshop will begin by cultivating deep body awareness and moving through flowing warm ups. We will start to build our dance vocabulary through the exploration of basic foundational shapes, pathways and fundamental movements, slowly building to create patterns and layers of movements leading to culmination of a sweet beginner combination. Our class will conclude will a slow flowing asana based cool down. By practicing movement arts we explore not only the physical layers of the body but also the energetic pathways that shape us. In this dance workshop you will learn: -Simple but potent meditation and breath awareness -Foundational dance vocabulary - What is Pranam -What is Bhava -Mudras & padas (hand & foot postions) -Original dance combination -Asana based cool down
